If I find a dana 44 to swap into my wag. will the driveshaft/ u-joints work? If I find a dana 30 , would that be worth considering? Thanks for everyones help.

Dana 30, nope, still gonna have to deal with a weaker axle than a 44.
Dana 44, not sure, I have the complete '76 flat top D44 axle and steering box sitting on a table in the shop. No time right now.
I'm going SOA no matter what, looking at going J20 HD44 Front/60 Rear or FW 60 Front/14Bolt rear. Not sure what might pop up.
I'll document the heck out of this for the next, when I can get it done.
Until then, I just carry lots of extra parts.

the pig on the 44 is a bit longer front to back so you may have to shorten the shaft... the Ujoints should be the same 1310 series....

Tad and Beast; thanks for the input. This is the kind of stuff I need to know.

I used the cv from the d20 end of the original shaft and the pinion end of the donor vehicle shaft, added a splice tube in the middle and have a working front shaft. Not balanced though and vibrates like crazy. It will be replaced after I roll the front pinion up and have 300$ for a WOODY.

I hit pickapart the other day and found some d44's with full-time. One was locked up at the pinion and the other was on a vehicle. I see that they were both 6" wider and soa. Pickapart wants $150. for a diff. Sometimes they have half price days. That would be good if I find what I want. I also saw a couple suburbans with nice beefy rear springs with a lot of arch and they measure a couple inches longer than my stockers. I have blocks on there now and it's not quite as high as I would like. I was looking at the springs because I want to do the flip but don't want to do the unflip on the trail. I'm going to deal with that later after I get the front diff situated. Thanks for all the responses, advice and offers.

well i got some nice 6lug Dutchman axles that will convert ur rear 5lug d44 to 6lug to match a front d44 u get from pick-a-part...or u can buy the whole rear d44 diff i have that has 427sRP and a detroit locker and is set up for disc brakes!

or i can part out the diff for its axles, detroit locker, and disc brake kit!

gotta get rid of this diff.

Hey, Ken, how much you want for the disc brake setup?
