Get stock ones. Drill through the steel backing plates and tap for 5/16-UNF flathead allen screws (high tensile strength). Freeze them first to drill through the rubber. Grind the screw's extra thread-length off. Makes something like a semi-solid mount but without all the harshness. Used 'em on plenty of 500-HP and up AMC motors that ran on racecourses. Solids were lousy. Made all the images in the rearview mirror real blurry when you stand on the gas.
Or look at the ones made with urethane for AMC V8s. Try Sumitt Racing or 4-wheelparts etc.....
I recently tried them on my 401 J10 and I'm real happy with them. Don't know yet how long they will last. Oil leaks won't effect them like the stock ones.

If the trans torque arm is worn out, you will pop engine mounts far more often. That torque arm is important. If you dont have one, I would add one.
Kewl for the help guys ...I will check andrews out and yes Stuka I made sure I have and installs properly the torque arm mount
well I finially got around to building something .. used some 1/4" plate ,,some scrap sch40 pipe a 9/16 x 4 1/2" grd 8 bolt and 2 cheap generic spring bushings,,

Did you weld the bushing side of the mount too the old mounts that coonect to the frame?
yes .. the old frame mount is still the exact same ,..so this is as simple as unbolting and bolting the whole thing into stock place..
I only made one ,,cause I wasnt sure if both sides are the exact same yet or not ,,,since I changed the engine block side of the bracket aswell.

Nice job man. These type mounts are just plain awesome. I have zero noticeable engine torque in my buggy even with all the reduction. My Atlas literally is a 1/16" of an inch or less from touching my bottom seat bar. I thought for sure when I nailed the throttle that sucker would be slapping up against it. Hasn't kissed yet smile.gif Slim, your design is nice because it utilized the stock frame mount.

If you can't or don't want to fab stuff you can order these:

Has anybody tried any of the motor mounts from M.O.R.E.?
They have a polyurethane stock replacement and what they call their "bomb proof" motor mounts, but they are designed for CJ's, they may be adaptable to our FSJ equipment, they also have a universal, some fabrication required kits too.

I would love to get mounts like those, as my cherokee has way to much engin/trans/t-case movement, so if you decide to make some moe of those slim, let us know smile.gif
lol the great things one can design while at work ,,and a lil bit of thinkin
again with this and many of the ideas I have used ,,,have been inspired by this exact forum, and the input of others on here

He used to have really cool fiberglass parts for odd-ball trucks too. But it seems like he's been working on his website for like 10 years or something. Mostly Ford stuff.
