Will a dodge np205 bolt up to my 727. I'm trying to plan a bombproof drivetrain and was just thinking that most dodge transfer cases are 23 spline input like my 727. Do these transfer cases have the same round pattern and do they drop on the passengers side (I have a dodge D60 to go in). If so, is the input the right length, I know chevys come with two different lengths. Everything I have read says that it is easier to put in a dana 300 but I do not want to go that route. What is different about that swap. I'm not afraid to rig up some sort of crossmember or something if that is the only problem. I am just looking for options right now. I still have to go through my D60 and get my 14FF out from under my buddy's truck. I like this idea because it seems like it could be inexpensive if I find the case for a reasonable price. I'm trying to do alot of things to the jeep right now so we are trying to cut corners anywhere we can. You know how it goes. Jeepin' on a budget. smile.gif

What mods are there to make this work, or is it just a bolt in. The crossmember isn't too far from where the t-case mounts but those 205's are heavy. Should it be supported too.
I don't know much about the dodge t-cases, which ones would be best. I need a passenger side drop and do not want a slip yoke. Any ideas what years would work.
Will I need to find one attached to a dodge 727 to make this work or does it not matter.

Did dodge ever have a female input 205? The only dodge 205 that I have seen is the 29 spline male input that used a drive sleeve between the GETRAG manual tranny and the 205. The adapter on that version of the 205 had the "figure 8" bolt pattern on the tc, and the other side of the adapter was the standard NP round bolt pattern. I'm not sure how the pattern was indexed though. I don't think there are many of these out there and that is the reason I haven't seen any others. I'm curious about this concept as well because I can't recall ever coming across a 727/205 combo or a 23 spline 205 input.

I was going to bid on a TF727 NP205 on eBay a couple weeks ago and forgot about it. I am not sure how it is all put together, but I got this from High Impact
"Dodge NP205 Transfer Case
We have seen the Dodge NP205 transfer with both the 6 bolt circular bolt pattern and an 8 bolt pattern similar to or possibly the same as the Chevy. It has a right hand drop. It is supplied with a 23 spline male input shaft and used with a coupler"
