I took one of the wheels I bought for a spare apart with no problem, 19MM Deep Socket did the trick. Moved on to the set of 4 wheels I bought, socket does not fit, being as I am limited on metric tools I go buy a set of Metric deep sockets, none of them fit. No standards fit either. Now puzzled I did what I should have done in the first place..........take a closer look..........Sigh its a 5 sided nut. I go to town and buy a Gator Socket after a sugestion of that possibly working. Well there will be parts of that Gator socket in the garage for years to come! I called every tire shop in the area and no one knows what the heck I speak of. Now I guess I have to call Hummer? any ideas where to get a socket like that. I would also like to replace those stupid things. I also need one bead lock spacer and all new O rings. Over all I like them. However I beleive I will have the widest Wide Trac on the planet!!
Here are some Pics.

Go to the Army Navy surplus store.

No surplus store up here. I am about to take the torch to them. I need these things OFF!!!!! SLOwag Thanks, I learned already what a PAIN these things are on that Pirate Topic. I will have no pronblems with steering or tire rub against springs or frame. In fact its FAR from touching anything. The front axle is a D60 Dually axle and is 76" WMS to WMS, I wish it was not so wide I can afford to lose a lot of that width.
All the 2-piece wheels supplied by AMG prior to the 2000 model year came with 5 sided wheel nuts that require a special socket to remove. This was done to reduce AMG’s liability when these wheels were serviced. If you remove the wheel nuts while the tire is full of air the wheel assembly could explode. By controlling who was able to purchase the socket AMG could insure that only trained technicians could service the wheels. It turned out that many owners were able to obtain or make their own sockets and purchase regular hex flange nuts from the many Army surplus dealers. The latest 2-piece wheels which are standard on the 2000’s now come with hex nuts.

or use a socket that takes off rounded lugnuts off, go to a tire store, they might borrow you one. Its kind of like a reverse easy out. Or even maybe a truck tire broken inner bud nut remover. they work well. Matco/Mac/Snap-On all also sell kits for wheel lock nut removers, I would bet sears sells them as well. You could also use a air hammer with a chisle bit in it to remove them. But if you have a torch that will work, but let the air out first, but I am sure you knew that.

You could also check an industrial tool supply. 5 sided bolts are used to hold down some manhole lids, I think its close to a 3/4". although the torch is handy smile.gif

Rather then torching them and taking a chance of messing up the rim, why don't you just weld some reg nuts to the ends of the bolts and crank them off that way. Just my 2 cents.
