Hehe, reading the latest issue of JP magazine today and noticed that a board member had a letter published in the mailbag section and he dropped a note about the IFSJA (thanks Rick!!! smile.gif), but the URL was wrong!!

It was listed as ifsja.com instead of ifsja.org hehe

Ummm....ummmmm......idea here.....

Can the .com and .net's for IFSJA be acquired and just URL forwarded to the .org site....well, I know they "can" but how about doing that? Where I'd signed up for Domains last, for the $15 you could have forwarding for no charge with that....which would work for these. Might not hurt to "drive" any accidental traffic here via those URLs too.....

just an idea...

Porkchop, did you not got your May 2001 issue of FSJ magazine? I finally got mine last week. By the way, That was a good article about your Jeep in there.

Just hope the next issue isn't so late.

Yes Direct NIC (http://www.directnic.com) does it. and it only costs $15 a year...

FSJ magazine is alive and well. I got my copy early last week. Good as usual, and worth it. Mike Abber deserves all we can give him, as far as subscriptions, articles, write ups, etc. If you have anything to contribute, even if you think it might not be worth writing about send it to him, and let him make the choice. I'd rather him have to choose what not to put in, than have to wait for enough articles to be able to put the magazine together. I for one, plan to do a write up on the floor restoration, when I do it in a couple of months. And pics if I can get a camera.

Do you still have to pay the $70 per domain name if you do that? If not and it would only cost $30 bucks to do that, I'll do it but if I have to buy more domain names at the $70 dollar price tag... well, not yet anyways.

It should only be the $15/each. The $70 is only if you go with Network Problems Inc. There are plenty of places doing $15 for a domain these days, and that covers an entire year....some offer little extras, like the URL forwarding and such. I went with Dew Designs for my domains(one new, one renewal) this past year and everything went smooth as silk....got a URL forward for my new site until I had it ready, which was cool. I gather others have some little things like that too. So, yep, should only run the ~$30 for two more domains a year($45 total for 3).

Mabye could also write to JP mag and tell em bout the misprint. Mabye in the next issue they would end up mentioning the site again by saying , hey we had the wrong URL.. its actually .. blah blah blah.

Second mention hehehe

Perfect idea for that angle....another mention won't hurt! smile.gif Still wouldn't be bad to consider the forwarding stuff, but getting JP to mention a "correction" and 2nd mention of the site would be worthy! smile.gif good t'inkin'!

Man $15 a domain name, things sure have changed a lot since I bought a domain name last. Last time I bought one, Network Solutions was still the only company doing it. J.C. was kind enough to pick up the tab for the .org address, but if they are only $15 dollars I will definatly look into getting .com and .net as well.

I emailed JP back, but more people should do it too, then maybe they will see just how many FSJ readers they have ;) You might want to double check but i think the email address is jcappa@emapusa.com

Rick Pewe is gone from Jp, and is at 4 Wheel and Off Road now.

The mag has gone way down hill since he left, IMO. I'm letting my sub drop, and starting one to 4WOR.

If you look at the Ultimate Jeep articles, they basically tell you to ruin a J-truck (I know, to each his own), and John Cappa doesn't even own a Jeep, AFAIK.

(Quote)"Spread the word, huh? Well, we dont know about that..."(end quote)...For a Jeep magazine they seem pretty tepid about supporting the FSJs. At least under Uncle Rick they included at least one tech article a month on the big Jeeps. Now the best they can do is a "what if"? Geez, they have only two writers on the staff! It looks like Emap Peterson is just trying to kill the magazine by moving all the good writers to other magazines. Looks like time to get a subscription to FSJ Magazine. Okay, now I'm done ranting.
