A friend of mine bought a GW from the above subject. That GW was totally stock, beutiful, clean and ran great. I was going to buy one from this guy, until I found out how much!! Way overpriced (my opinion).
Has anyone on this list had any dealings with this man? Where does he get these GWs? Where does he get his parts? How can he live with himself selling them for that much?
FYI: $13,000 - $17,000

Jerry,
That guy is providing a rare service of selling one style of truck. So he is going to ask the maximum price.
He looks like he has it together, everyone of those GW go threw a renewal of anything suspected to be worn out.
I think if you have the extra cash and don't want to go threw the hasle of finding a GW that is mint for a good price, go to that guy. I found my GW in the same condition as the ones that dealership is selling for about a 3rd of what he is charging. But i also looked for about 4 months until i found it.

On the web site they say that a minimum of $3500 is invested in each rig before selling. That may be some of the reason for the high price and the demand is greater also. People flat out want a FSJ.

Bryan Walker boought his Grand Wag from Wagonmasters. I went down to Houston to visit family during Thanksgiving '98, and also visited Bryan to buy his OEM front bumper (he'd bought a Sterling tube bumper).
I thought the vehicle was exceptionally nice and clean, but then I had to shop in the rust-encrusted Midwest when hunting for mine.
Later, Bryan put a lift and huge tires on the vehicle. It's still shown in the "Rigs" section, although Bryan sold the Jeep last year and is now in college. It started to give him the same kind of problems we all eventually face with these Jeeps, and the kid just wasn't up to it any more. [P.S. Adam, what's up with the "Rigs" forum? Lots of those old rides/members are now gone and/or Jeepless, and lots of new members would like to get there pictures/profiles shown.]
I've called Wagonmasters a couple of times, the last time trying to find out where he gets original equipment Michelin WSW tires. He wouldn't say, and Michelin itself was no help. So the guy has really, really nice Grand Wags for sale at really, really steep prices.

I don't think he's claiming that they are the OE Michelin WSW self-sealing tires; they are just premium whitewalls (which are pretty easy to find in the 225/75 and 235/75 sizes).
What the buyer pays for is the service of tracking down low-mileage examples and refreshing them. He makes a profit on each and every one of them, which is his due. When you compare them to Grand Cherokees of similar mileage and condition, they are a bargain. If, OTOH, you are comparing them to *our* trucks, well, there's no comparison. I may have $8,000 total into my '88 by now, but it has a hundred-thousand more miles on it than those examples, the interior is "lived-in", the exterior is far from pristine, and it's only running well because I've worked on it so much. Some people will gladly pay $5000 more than I have for a truck with 100,000 less miles on it, that looks like new, that they don't have to work on, but that is still a GW.
To each their own. I've already got mine.

Wagonmaster is one guy from Kerville Texas that sells Wagoneers out of his driveway. He does do a nice job of "detailing" the vehicles but my Father-in-law and Brother-in-law bought Wagons from him at top dollar and my b-in-law had a lot of trouble with his and my F-in-law had to negotiate for a rebuilt engine. The guy did him right and helped with the cost. I'm glad someone has had a positive experience with Wagonmaster. I agree...He is on the pricey side but like it has been said...You will buy a truck that you won't have to fix up yourself.
