fresh from victory over tg and a few other house projects, it's time for the beach. loaded up, cooler full of various ales fr/a local brewer.(nominee for favorite tool:bottle opener blade on my ol'cub scout knife).chugged thru 1st sandtrap,used to weed out the cars,just into a pking area. jeep dies, no tools, buddy rolls up. he's got relatives up to his eyebrows,so he cant really stop. hell with it,i grabbed the cooler +chair +abandoned gwag. it was @ dusk when i ret'd to jeep with battery,tools and volt meter.juice@batt,key on run no volts@ coil,darkness falling. a 12v worklite gave me the wire i needed to backfeed coil from batt.juice to dash. crawled under+ crossed terms on starter, ignition, go to drive away,cant,ignition is locked turn to run pos,eng dies. set ig sw to unlocked, restart @ starter@ drive home with just the stuff that works independantly of the run position of ig/sw. volt gauge read about8v,alt not on line,only about 3 mi to home. ig /sw looks to be culprit, sw has not needed key since i bot it. i'm at work now, i'll look at prob when i get home. meanwhile i'm interested in any input from you keyboard diagnosticians.TIA!

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>fixed prob this pm. turnedout to be a fusable link between hotside of starter relay+ ignition switch (main feed i guess).it had rubbed up against exhaust manifold+ shorted,parting link,repaired that,and tuned up coil connections
