We just don't know what to do! We have 4 running jeeps and just can't pick one to keep. With insurance and gas and repairs, we are jeep poor!
'87 GW needs some work but has our new engine in it with only 20,000 miles, my husbands favorite.
'79 Wag doesn't need much, headliner and carpet, but the engine is shot, my favorite.
'78 Wag needs some body work, carpet and electrical but has the QT conv with only 35,000 on the engine.
'74 j20 we are keeping for sure.
If we keep them all I will have to get a job to pay for this habit WE have. I would like to blame my husband but I am worse than he is. I like everything about an fsj, except maybe the gas. But we just can't keep them all. Our landlord says some have to go, I don't know what the problem is, this place has 64 acres of land that we can fill with jeeps and we have only just begun! So we are starting with our 2 parts jeeps and hope it will buy us time to be able to drive the '87 and '78 to see if they are sound.
This is not fun! When I ask my husband he just puts his head in his hands and says "I don't know".
Any suggestions? Trish  :(

Trish..... My selection would be for the older ones. Like less complications under the hood. And easyer to pass inspections. I still like my QT but I also like the PT in our "81 model..Hope you can figure out the best ;) ;) ..........ds..
'87 in town cruiser and light hauls and '74 for a hardcore 4wheeler and heavy duty work.

Wow this is a tough one. I can see your starting off on the right foot by keeping that J20. Best truck ever built :D I might have to say keep the 87 out of the wags because it has the lowest miles. But I like less complicated stuff so I'd probably keep the 78 wag and the J20.

Thank you all for your help. We know you ALL understand. I like the older ones too. But, here goes with the BUT, I just don't know.....
As time goes on I'm sure something will make the decision for us. No matter what the outcome, we will have a couple of wags for sale. The '78 and '79 are both 1 owners. The '79 has hardly seen off road and is really tight. No noise anywhere. Still my favorite as a family car. I just with it had the QT conv kit to make it PT and the new engine that is in the '87. :(

why not keep all the jeeps and find another place to live. :D thats what i would do. i cant believe someone would make another do such a thing. especially when a jeep is involved.
good luck on the decisions. sounds tough to me.

Contact a local attorney... If the landlord is being a pain. As I am aware of, they can't make you get rid of anything that is street legal and has a tag. Unless it is considered a nuisance vehicle by your neighborhood. If you are on 64 acres I guess you shouldn't have that problem. If nowhere in your lease agreement does it mention a limit on vehicles there is nothing your landlord can do. Renters have ownership-like rights. I'm sure you'd rather get along with your landlord... But I've never liked getting pushed around or told what I can and can't do and I imagine you don't like it either. So there is something to think about. Good luck whatever you decide...but just know that you don't have to let people run over you.

No really it is all cool. We would like to keep them all but realisticlly it isn't possible. Our landlord is a good friend of ours and he lives on the property too. We have been in the process of clearing the land of apple trees getting it ready for a vineyard. He just gets annoyed at times when he sees our stuff along with all his stuff. He has lived here his whole life. It belonged to his grandparents so when we moved here there were old trucks parked everywhere that had been work trucks and then replaced with something new. We helped him sell all of them and have filled their spots with our jeeps. We don't intent to leave here and as a friend he really won't tell us we have to get rid of anything but we know it bothers him so we need to be kind and reasonable. Your suggestions have been a great help. Now my husband wants to put a "for sale" sign on all the wags and keep the one left. I'm sure that will change tomorrow.
