Good news is I thought my engine had a LOUD tick but it seems to go away when I press the brake. Even if I press the brake while still pressing the gas to keep the RPMs up.

It's not a rock in the tread and it only seems to stop when the brake is pressed. Any ideas?

ps. Seems to be front brake.

My first suspicion would be that the little metal ears on the disk brake pads weren't bent to fit snug when the pads were replaced. These tabs are supposed to be bent to provide a snug fit. Out of the box, they're opened up so they will slide into place easily. Many folks just slap in the new pads without making this adjustment. Failing to do so allows the brake pads to rattle around until the brake is applied. I don't think it affects how well the brakes work, but it can make them rattle if not set up right. You hear an awful lot of rattley front braks on cars that have had the pads replaced because of this.

Could also be a loose wheel hub cover.
