The Sock...

I removed the fuel pickup from my 90 GW and the "sock" is missing. Hence the stumble when the tank is 1/4 empty. I added a length of fuel line, and guess that the sock is in the bottom of the tank. Is the sock a pre filter? I've added a second filter (pre pump)for good measure. Do I need the sock?

i took the fuel sendig unit out of my 85 grand wag,and it didnt occur to me until just now that my sock is missing too! http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~zeimet/ubb/eek.gif i think its just a prefilter,so you should be fine without it.the extra filter before the pump is a good idea.
