Found this on one of my older pics.
The Fader is below my AC vent. See the knob? It reads PULL ON. Need to get a better pic. Look familiar to anyone?

Back in the late 70's and early 80's I worked for a small tv & stereo shop. We used to install aftermarket fader controls in cars where a second pair of speakers were added. Usually the control came with a black or brown housing so we could mount it under the dash. I can't tell by the pic if that is similar, but by the descriptions I've read, I think that's what we've got here.

Yeah man, I had one of those I bought at Radio Shack for my under dash 8 track player in my first car. (Ahhh, the memories). I can see how AMC would attach an "aftermarket" device to the afterthought AC under the dash, sounds about par for them. But I'm confused as to why it's not duct-taped into place as this would be a sure sign that it was from the factory http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~zeimet/ubb/biggrin.gif. Anybody know what years had these contraptions? My '84 GW had a nice factory stereo with an integrated fader as most modern units have.
