Would anyone happen to know if any of the u-pick type junkyards around LA have any FSJ's. I need to find a QT without the low range.
I want to remove the low range from mine to see if that eliminates or minimizes the "bangs in reverse" problem. What I need to find out is what substitutes for the low range unit pinion cage (planetary carrier) which is splined into the QT drive sprocket. Some sort of drive gear must take its place in the single speed units, otherwise it appears there would be no power flow to the t-case from the trans output shaft.
Thanks,
Dave

i replaced my exploded non low range Q-T with one that had one and left out the low range unit as i didn't have the levers and stuff..
the original came with a collar and a clip that connects the shaft from the trans to the outer shaft. thats it. oh yea and the metal cover.

Dave S & Rudy C,
glad to see more Los Angeles FSJers here!
My neighbor w/ a '78 Cherokee gave me the name of this place; although I have no idea if U pick it or THEY pick it. Or of their quality or even if this place exists (call first).
