I just replaced the transmission in my 88 GW and now the 4WD indicator stays lit even when the switch is set to 2WD.I manually moved the (vacuum?) lever on the transfer case and the indicator went off but after driving a bit it's back on.Is this a vacuum problem or did I connect something incorrectly? Thanks again!

Maybe both--you hooked up the vac lines wrong?

My defroster does not work either so I'M sure I've crossed something or did not connect a hose. Where does the small hose from beneath the vacuum ball thingy go? I think I connected it to the air filter housing.

The vac ball and associated systems like defrost valve and 4wheel selector should be hooked up to manifold vacuum source.. a nipple coming right out of the intake manifold..

I have no idea as to the vacuum routing on an '88 (mine's an '84 w/disco front axle), but that can't be right.

Thanks everyone,I plan to look deeper into it tonight. Could having the hoses connected incorrectly cause any damage?

Also, which hose connects to the air breather?
