Dart/J-20

Thanks guys for the info on the TC swap. I guess I should have elaborated a bit more on the swap. The 208 is from an 81 J-20 with the T18 4sp. I want to mate the 208 to a 727 that was in an 80 J-20 with a 219 TC. There, that sounds better!! The other thing I need to know is will I be able to use the drive shafts that were used with the 4sp 208 combo? Thanks once again for the help. This site is great!

Scotty,
You may want to hit up Porkchop on the T-18... He pulled his out during his 327/T18/D20 to 360/TH400/QT swap. He may still have it...

porkchop had a 3 speed-a t90,or t98,or something- anyway, i need a t18 from an 80 or newer that had a 208 attached to it.i dont need the 208,but in order to bolt it to my dana 300 with factory output shaft and factory adapter(not $400 for aftermarket, plus tranny disassembly to swap output shaft) thats what it needs to be. i can find older t18s with dana 20s fairly easily, but i want to keep my 300 xfer case, since its low range is allready better, and i want to stay with the circular bolt pattern in hope of installing a klune-v 3 speed crawler box.
http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~zeimet/ubb/frown.gif unfortunately, the t18a was only used with a circular pattern new process case(208) from 80-83,and probably only in the j20,which makes them super rare. 84 to 88 manual trannies were t176,as were cherokee and wag from 80-83.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! where can i get hold of that t18?! http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~zeimet/ubb/eek.gif

to answer the question, yes, the t18 208 should bolt right to the 727.get the shifter and linkage as well. the t18 and 727 are probably different lengths,im not sure how much. you could measure from front of bellhousing to t case on both trannies before handing over any cash. if theres any more than 1/2 inch difference,id figure on having new drivehafts made.
