I have had my 360 recently rebuilt and have yet to find where an annoying minor vibration is coming from. I had my transmission mech. tell me that my vibration may be from the harmonic balancer.

Is it possible to have an engine balanced after a rebuild?

Has anyone had any experience with this?

My balancer shredded itself on me on the way back from Virginia (a 1k mile round trip) and trust me, you'll know it if it happens. The mechanic had to re-torque just about every bolt in the accessory drives (water pump, etc.) that had vibrated loose. Also, at idle it felt like I was sitting in the world's largest Magic Fingers bed. 360 balancers are pretty easy to find--try Summit Racing or even JCW.

On the other hand, what kind of shape are your motor mounts in? Is the vibration consistent with acceleration? Do you only notice it at idle? In gear, or also in park/neutral? If it only happens in a drive gear I would look at the possibility of a bent driveshaft or bad u-joints.

This vibration is intermitten...sometimes it will start at 20mph and is consistant at that speed. above 20mph it goes away and returns at about 60mph. If I get off the accelerator it will stop until the engine catches up with the speed. I have no vibration at other speeds????? Weird!!

The motor mounts are in good shape...no vib. at idle...no vib on acceleratioin...no vib in neuteral, or in gear and it doesn't go away coasting in neuteral. Any new ideas?
