Seriously thinking of switching over to duals on Ursula. Seems like it'd be pretty straight-forward, but am very interested in any opinions, stories, facts and figures out there.
Anybody get any more horsies out the 360 like that? What did you use? Worth it for any reason other than the lovely tone that I imagine??

Are you talking about true duals or rear dual pipes?

No, I mean true... good-nite to Y-pipe dual.
Unless you run both duals down one side you'll have trouble getting around the fuel tank. It's been done but to do it cleanly will take some creative plumbing(read expensive). If it were me I'd just go with a single 3" exhaust system. Less hassel and a lot cleaner install.

Hmmmm. Yes, that's the what I was noticing when I was looking under there. You may be right on with the 3", though the tone of duals just always puts a bigger smile on my face. Maybe I'll just roll under there tonight and start imagining.
I had a true dual setup on my GW. My brother-in-law did it at his muffler shop. It took him 5 hours and $280 in materials. It looked great, run down the passenger side, had twin catalitic converters, twin turbo muffs and twin chrome tips coming out the right rear. Funny thing is that while it breathed well at higher revs, it lost some low end grunt and got worse MPG. On my Chief, I will be going with the 3" setup.

A single 3" pipe sounds AWESOME!!! I have heard the Ramjet 350 up close and personal and let me tell ya.. 6500 rpms outta 3" pipe capped with a Delta series Flowmaster was enuf to make me sit down for a minute or two... ;)
I have dual 2.25" bombs for now...headers and no cats... it's not too obnoxiuos but will be better with 2 chamber Flow's
Bombs are the worst flowing thing made...they look like they would bee good with a open tube, but the fins they put in them create alot of turbulence for the airflow. These are just to get me by for now...

Ive got a stock y pipe with a single cherrybomb,no cat, in 2.25 pipe, sounds pretty dang good to me, helps drown out the swampers! :D

As mentioned earlier, when you free up your exhaust, you lose your low end torque and reduce your city MPG. Highway MPG should increase as that is where the positive effect is. This applies to both dual exhaust set ups and larger single pipes. If you don't need or want the lower end torque (which comes in handy for off-raoding and towing) then go with the duals or the 3".
I've analized the dual exhaust potential in the past and couldn't help but notice how nicely a muffler or two would fit up inside where the spare tire storage is.

Yeah, that is a great place for a camero style flowmaster. The camero flowmasters are made for the center and have pipes on both sides. Would work good, if you wanted duals for mostly looks.

The Beast has 50 series Flowmaster with single 2.5" exhaust pipe and sounds very impressive while retaining the bottom end torque. This of course, is without any emissions crap, so I'm sure the tone is enhanced by the lack of "cadillac converter." (She sounds better everyday as far as I'm concerned!)

I had 2 .5" all aluminized, fully welded duals with rear tire exit installed. No mufflers, just straight through. can't beat it for performance, just the rite amount of pressure

I have a single 3in exhaust with a dynomax race series muffler. I had a dual exhaust that I took off. I have more off ideal torque than with the duals. I like the overall performance of the single.
How much backpressure does the cat really create? I believe the stock system on my 89 is a 2.5 inch. Would it be better to remove the cat and put a nice Flowmaster on with a 2.5 inch system or would 3" be optimum for torque and mileage?
