what is this???????

There is a tube hanging down from the top of the rear axle on the drivers side, next to the brake lines. One end ( the hanging end) looks like it broke off from some where. What the hell is this and what should i do with it? My ameture mechanic common sence thinks that its probably a lube piont for the back axle, but the hanging tube throws me off?? Any explanations and help would be nice......Thanks...AL

That is most likley your vent tube for the rear axle. Follow it up and see what the other end looks like.

It is a vent tube. Run it up as high as possible if you every do any stream crossings!

replace the hose with a longer one(mine goes all the way to the engine bay) and put an inline fuel filter on the open end.loop it so the other opening points down. this prevents water/dirt from entering and plugging it.dennis
