--My '86, (stock), is making a semi-loud pinging sound, almost as if the fan was hitting the shroud, but it's not.
--A buddy came by and said it's the fan clutch, but we're not 100% sure.
--It happens most under power, either at start-up rev, or while accelerating.
--If it is the fan clutch, I assume this would keep the fan kicked in all the time. That may be why I'm not getting the temp above the 'blue' mark, even though the temps are close to 90 degrees here.
--If it is the fan clutch, would I be better off with a new one, or canabalizing the one off my '85.
--If'n I'm really lucky, which has not recently been in the cards, it's JUST the fan clutch. LMAO
--On another matter, Tad, thanks a lot for the work last week. Though the GW rides a little stiffer, even pulling the water trailer hasn't caused the tires to hit the wheel wells. Also, with these shocks, the sag has gone away, from the springs.
--Let me know when you want the rest of all the things you need off the '85. I have a friend who wants to haul out whatever's left. He, too, is a fellow FSJ'r. He's also a Nascar-level mechanic (60+Y.O.): I'll be getting him to join the little sewing circle here as soon as he stops by today.
