Does anyone here have info on the Rough Country 3", 4 spring suspension lift kit (www.roughcountry.com/jeep.htm)for the Wagoneer? It comes with the 4 springs, 4 shocks, and all hardware (no drop pitman arm required they say... although that might not be the case).
It's far cheaper than most alternatives. They want $575 for the whole kit. I'm very curious to hear how the ride quality is. I know it will be stiffer, but am not willing to give up ALL my cush ride ;)

J.C. Whitney sells this lift (3" front springs and 3" rear blocks for $275 or so) In the recent discussion here, most people that had experience said the lift was "rough". Ironic huh.

I'm planning on getting it eventually. FYI, Rocky Mountain Suspension sells it for $520 here: http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/special.htm (never buy ANYTHING straight from the manufacturer--it's always cheaper somewhere else http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~zeimet/ubb/wink.gif)

I have that kit on my Wag. I do not have a dropped pitman arm or longer brake lines.... no problems because of that either. With a little bit of trimming in the rear I am running 33x12.5x15 tires with no rubbing at full flex. I guess the ride is a little rough but it is actually better than my old springs because they were so shot. I strongly advise against NOT getting the block kit, they give you 2" blocks for some reason so the rearend sits an inch lower, its noticible and looks funny (ask me how I know). The 4 spring kit works great and is most definatly worth the extra money.
However, when you are installing the front springs, make sure that the end of hte spring with the big eye goes in the _front_ not the back (like on the stock springs). I installed them backwards first which moved hte axle forward about an inch or two and the driveshaft wouldn't hook up. And since I didn't know they were backwards, I thought that was just hte way it was and went out and payed to have the driveshaft lengthend before I found out from the FSJ-list that they were on backwards http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~zeimet/ubb/biggrin.gif .
All in all I am satisfied with the lift, It allows me to run 33's and it has done great in 3+ and 4 trails in Moab (make sure you get sway bar disconnects if you are wheeling though!).

Excellent info - Thanks! I'll probably order the kit next week.
So once the 3" lift is on, I'm thinking 31x10.5 BFG AT's. Can I get away with anything bigger without trimming?
This is a 'tow' vehicle that will be doing some light to moderate wheeling so I don't want to go too insane... oh wait.. I must be insane, I own an FSJ! ;)

Ok. I did it. I ordered the 3" 4 Spring Rough Country lift kit.
Thanks Baker for the tip on Rocky Mountain Suspension. I ordered from them $520 is not bad at all (although their shipping charge is a little high... thats ok). Should be here in a week or so.
I'll be sure to do a full report on the install and performance after I get it (body/paint work should be done by the time it gets here).

WCollier:
Please do post your info about installation of that kit. Take pictures too, if you can. I'm thinking about doing a lift myself and would love the info.

Probably not. With a 4" lift, 33's are real close to rubbing, I don't think they would work to well with the 3" lift. But 2" off the rear fenders and they will go right on http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~zeimet/ubb/wink.gif.

Well then... maybe 32x11.5? I was sure the 33's would not fit... but was hoping someone here had already tried 32's with the 3".
I can get the BFG A/T KO's for about $100 ea here in Austin... will probably go that route (unless of course someone tells me 32's will fit ok!).
Thanks for all the input, and I'll take digital pictures during install and post on my website (such as it is).

I just called both R/C and Rocky Mountain to compare prices and ask additional questions. R/C wants $575 + $60 S&H. Rocky Mountain wants $550 + $90 S&H..... R/C is actually cheaper for me, but I am in the neighboring state of KY. The special price of $520 does not exist anymore. He also stated that 31's are acceptable for stock fenders with no issues, 32's and 33's could rub.

I think the rubbing problem with tires larger than 31" will come more from turning the wheels into the inner fender wells, not from the tires being so tall that they hit the fenders.

Well, the kit came in last friday. Sitting on the floor in the shop right now. I took a look, and everything seems to be good quality. Those are some beefy **** springs! I'm going to try and find greaseable bolts/busings for the front and back. I'm pretty sure the fronts I can get from Rubicon Express or Currie... the Rear will be a little tougher. From RC, unlike the front set of springs, they seem to have used factory bushings/sleeves which are already installed in the spring. Interesting. I figure greasables will give me a few less squeeks down the road.

No, you cant. Remember this is a family show here and some people may object, just trying to make everybody happy.... and putting hyphens in the word doesn't help that any.
