Ok. I know all of this has been covered many times before, but I haven't been able to find exactly what I'm looking for, so here goes. Do I need to get a dropped pitman arm for my 3" body lift? If I don't need one, is there one available and would it be worth my while to get it? Also, I'm probably going to put a 4" suspention lift on eventually, I know I need a dropped pitman arm for this, does Skyjacker carry the one I will need? Thanks, as always, for the input.

No, you do not need a drop pitman for a body lift. All you are doing with a body lift is lifting the body and none of the mechanics. The drive line agles will stay the same as well as your steering.
I bought the performance accessory 3" kit. I have not put it on yet but I heard it is the best.
Skyjacker does indeed make a drop pitman arm, I have it on my wag right now. I can not remember the part number though. Hope this helps.

Sounds identical to what I am planning to do.
A 3" body lift with a 4" suspension lift afterwards.

Depending on the body style...W/T or N/T, your planned lift will fit 33x12.50's on a 15x10 (N/T) and 35x12.50's on 10's (W/T)
Slight rubbing may occur in the back due to small well but that's extreme tweakin'...FYI

Your body lift may mess with you steering depending on how you steering wheel sets on your truck! As far as the info you need on that,...ask the people that you buy the lift from,....and any information on parts and accessories,......go to www.google.com (http://www.google.com) and type in what you want and it will find many many pages on cites that can help you out! The best search tool to use man !

Bodylifts don't mess with steering components at all... the steering shaft has a factory u-joint and slip yoke in it half way between the firewall and the gearbox. The only thing needing mods for a bodylift is dropping the radiator and extending both shift linkages (gear select and T-case) and possibly loosening up some wire ties that hold harnesses to the frame. I recommend removing your bumpers to get the body lip out from under the top edge of the bumpers before you jack the body up... makes the job alot easier.
Suspension lifts change the angle of the draglink (from gearbox to tierod). The only time you need a drop pitman arm is over 3" suspension lift. Now if your shim the front axle with your lift, THEN you mess with steering geometry.....

Riverbeast is right on!
I just installed a 3" Performance Accesories Body Lift and had to lenghten the shift rod and move the radiator.
No other modifications were needed.
Good luck and put that lift on!

Todd better'd be right, with all the mods he's done to the "Beast" LOL.....Speaking of lifts and suspension and stuff, I bought "Starz" with some suspension "rails" on her. They're mounted to the axles and I belive the frame. What i'm wondering is what are these for....making the suspension as hard as a rock, or just to get 'cha stuck (they sit lower than the axle by at least 4 inches).....I wanna be able to "flex" ....how do I achieve this??? Thanks again! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/smile.gif

Can you take some pics and get them posted? I think you have, for lack of visual, a control arm of sorts. Black Diamond was notoriuos for this on their Extreme coil-over suspensions (discontinued July '00)---one upper(above axle) link and one lower link (below axle) for all four corners of the vehicle. They let the axle flex...WELL, but keep it under the vehicle with the help of track bars. Normally these are used with "coiled" vehicles and not "leafed". If you have a sway bar in the front that will REALLY make your tweakin' capability reduced. Get some quick disconnects for it when off-roading and your set.... my 78 waggie never came with them (swaybars).
