There has to be a massive short somewheres on the old Jeep. I though it was the crappy old battery that wouldn't hold a charge. So I put in a fully charged deep cycle battery I borrowed from my parents travel trailer. Put that in and it started right up, drove it around and shut if off and restarted it a few times, no problems. Let it sit for an hour, came back and it was so dead it wouldn't even start to crank the motor over! What kinda problem causes a batery to drain so quickly, or at all?

I dont know what alt. you have but if its the ac delco with the 2 wire adapter on the side of it then check the red wire in it that goes back to the battery. The 70's and 80's models put fusible links in that when it shorts or overloads it blows the wire. One did it to me and it didnt even burn the insulation on the wire. It just broke inside and I never liked to have found it.
