Thanks for all the help fellas, I ended up getting this model on ebay...

Due to my budget sucking, I just couldn't swing one of the cool models like Kimbrough was talking about. This one will fit in the ashtray slot so hopefully it will work pretty slick.

pics when you get installed, bracing in the back will be tough tho i imagine, no room for big or small hands

$13! Love it. Thats a good choice. Cheap, small, should be easy to install. Made by a good company. You may consider using an external speaker though. Those small radios have equally small speakers that usually point right at the floor.

Are the speakers just regular audio speakers? Sorry for my ignorance, I've never had one of these before.

yep, usually they are built into a small box to accentuate the voice range. No need for High-Fidelity in a CB radio. Radio Shack makes some, any good sized truckstop should have a shelf of CB stuff.

Get one, plug it in, you'll never go back.

with all the noise that comes with being in a vehicle, the external speaker is almost a must, especially if your vehicle is excessivly noisy, semi's are or at least mine is, so get one, you'll appreciate it.

i had a smaller raido shack one mounted under the dash, the areials were mounted on the back above taillight, and i mounted the external speaker where the speaker in the dash should be. worked great.
