Wow I like those seats! And now I know where to mount a fire extinguisher! Good idea! Ive added a 89 GW overhead console and a 70 Super Waggy floor console into my J20.
So far I have 2000 Neon seats, clutter catcher, spray vinyl painted my visors black, and have torn out the carpet.
I plan on replacing the door panels with some soft vinyl, and carpet from BJs. I also plan on making removeable floor mats from BJs 3ftX6ft. pieces, all throughout the interior. I've removed the headliner and am currently trying to see how I can keep it removed, but make it more aesthetically pleasing. I also plan on spraying the dashboard black (turning the jeep into the laredo cream color/black paint scheme never found anywhere).
I'll have pictures when some significant progress has been made that I like.

thanks allen. i was worried that i might keep accidently kicking the fire extinguisher as i got in or out of the truck. but, i haven't had any skirmishes between it and my feet as so far.

i mounted my fire extinguisher on the passenger side kick panel..they're too busy holding on for dear life to worry about kicking it.
I like the look of the aluminum door panels, but are they noisy???
If I was to build my own door panels and cover them in vinyl or a synthetic leather (to match the leather adjustable seats from a newer model), what kind of material should I start off with? What kind of glues do you use?

keej,
yes, they are noisy. i was just thinking recently about putting something thin under the panels to quiet them down.
Well I got 6x9's into my front doors.

Since I never had anything to start with it was pretty east to do using this panel I CNC plasma cut.
http://members.cox.net/ttsfabworks/6x9panel.JPG
I also designed a 3 guage panel for the dash that fits in place of the radio but that was a bear to install so I never tried to do it again.

here is a link to some other mods.

since for some reason I can no longer view or logon to fsjworld take a look and see what ya like. I on the other hand would like to use a material that would not be damaged by moisture to be used for door panels myself, any ideas anyone?

Jim:
That is sorta the set-up I'm thinking about in my '85 GW. Have the ashtray first and then the radio. Planning on taking them out for gauges. What are the four you have added? What did you use for a panel? Looks like it is just held by screws.

'85 GW
What are my carpet options? I just want carpet for the front and rear seat areas. I want to put use durabak or something in the cargo area. What's a reasonably priced option, but something that will look good and last?
Also, does anyone have any pics of panels that they've built for the sides of the cargo area? Anyone have any custom speaker mods that they've made to that area?
Thanks again,
Jeremy

jeremy, woodchomper (rich) did a fantastic speaker box mod in the rear of his waggie. he lives in my area and i saw it first hand and it sounded really good.

On my Cherokee, I'm in stage one of the side by side stereo and cb project that Brad completed. I plan to remove the ashtray as well and use a cb that is a larger than the one Brad is using. I'd like to have the stereo and cb the same size. I'll have to cut the dividers out and weld in a new one in the middle. I plan on using the big speaker hole in the middle of my dash for an external speaker for the cb. I'm have also removed the dash pad and I'm going to fill in the little mounting holes and go with the metal dash! Retro baby, it looks cool! New speedo, take, and quad four guage will go in a custom guage panel too!. I'm sure all of this isn't worth it, but it sure will be fun!
Here's a pic of a dash that "Jeeper Creeper" sent me right before the board went down. He said it's in a 77 W/T:

J10Mike
08-10-2004, 05:15 PM
you have to upload pics to a web host such as www.fullsizejeeps.com (http://www.fullsizejeeps.com) . once the pics are uploaded, take the url from your posted pics and enter similar to this in your post:
www.example.com/examplepic.jpg (http://www.example.com/examplepic.jpg)
be sure that there are no spaces in the url like above. hope this helps.

Brad, the c.b. is awesome, but where do you put the mic and wire? Doesn't the wire interfer with the glove box? I've been wracking my brains as to what to do with that space. I guess my truck had a clock, cause there's a pice of panneling covering the spot.
You have to upload them to another site and then link them over here. If you need me to post a few for you, send them to keej@machlink.com and I'll get them up as soon as I can...

It Was like that when I got it but I can tell you what was done. It had thre big clusters in the dash the two on either side were spraypainted from the inside. The radio was removed coverd with sheet metal and oil, fuel, and temp mini gages put there. The front and rear benches were newly redone when I got it. The doors were coverd in vinal and trimmed with something. All I did was add the tac to the gear shift mount for the origional auto trans.

Those tires get me where I need to go but not where I want to go. I traded a rifle for this rig. Like always I had big plans and empty pockets. Big THANKS to IFSJA and all the members for this endless source of information.

Did any FSJ come with fold down/reclining front seats. That's the only feature lacking in the stock power seats that would be a nice addition.
I went for a rubber cargo liner (cut down from an aftermarket intended for a F150).
No headliner has made the interior super hot in the sun. You can literally feel the heat when you try ot put your hand against the inside of the roof. Thinking about painint the top an off white, and/or a new headliner.

Wow. I like that White on Red! That thing looks like a Cherokee since I don't see wrap around tail lights on it. And the floor shifters... Cool! There is a 75 Wag on a farm in the area (not tellin!) that is a 360/T18/D20 like that. Shhhweet...
