what really does this do to ur brakes? would it be good to get one if i could?

All it does is applies more presure to the master cylinder, with the same amount of foot pressure. So less effort for more stopping power.

yes but ur jeep may stop fast with stock tires, it is hard to stop a set of swampers from spinning fast. plus my brakes work a little better now, i hooked up the booster to where it is saposed to be hoked up. the intake, not the back of carb like the po had it

DD's came on 84 and later rigs, right? Was it stock, or upgrade?

Right, and it was stock. Your rig should already have one in place. The best way to tell is by the size of the thing. Take a look at TweetyBud's booster on the 4th, yours should be bigger than that.
