If possible, I'd like to use the wire that goes into the cigarette lighter to power the antenna. I never use the lighter, and the housing is broke anyway. Am I going to start any fires by doing this?

Thanks!!!

Brad, you can use the lighter wire, but make sure you pull the 20 amp fuse out of the fuse block and replace with a max. of 3-5 amp fuse (unless the cb has its own fuse). Also this wire is hot all the time so you will have to remember to turn the cb off.You can also tap into the red power wire for the indash radio and it will switch with the key.Let me know If you get stumped.BTW, I am going to put a new ($6-7) 5x7 in the dash for my external speaker.I also have an SWR meter I will bring to the next WOT to set up antennas. Thanks Marc. One more question...

Can you mount that speaker without taking off the dash cover? I think I have an extra kraco speaker floating around.

Brad, yea you can.You have to pull the radio, but the speaker mounts from the bottom. Marc

I ran all my Ham gear off Lighter sockett that way I could move them from one vehicle to the other
