Hi ironroad,

Would have replied earlier, but was at Uwharrie over the weekend. Had a blast on the rocks. Must have been about 7 fsj running around. Found a fellow ifsja member(rockwagon). I think he also works on airplanes. He has a killer '83. I will let you know when I am planning on going next, maybe we can get a group together. Maybe the weekend of June 22nd-23rd? Maybe mine will be a convertable by then!!

Later,

Uhhh I just woke up. I agree with you IronRoad I see FSJ's all the time around here and they don't seem to find thier way to the board. I so a sweet 70's model on Battle Ground Ave.last week. It was bright yellow and on at least 4" of lift. I would love get a big group of us together on the East Coast. I under stand that not everybody is hard core. Uwharrie would be a perfect place two meet. Has chalenges and go arounds.

Hey All,

I think a big problem in starting a "local" club seems to be lack of knowledge from the general public. I do see some other FSJ's around my neck of the woods, but that's about it. As for finding this website or other FSJ forums ...people have to put a little more effort. Hence, the people who are here, are alittle bit more fanatical about their vehicles than the average person.

I came up with one possible solution. Make a business-card size leaflet stating your "local FSJ club" with information about activities ranging from your casual parking-lot get-togethers, all the way to hardcore off-roading. That way, the club would be more accessible to a larger group of people. Set-up a website(free webpage) for your local chapter/members & have info on local scrapyards, mechanics/shops, in your area that cater to Jeeps. Have links to IFSJA as the main hub for all the "local club websites" to share ideas. Next time you drive around your town...see a Jeep in the parking-lot, stick one of those leaflets on the windshield. Who knows, ...just might have another member. smile.gif

I can't get my Cherokee inspected...No sticker means a $250 ticket in NC now! Plus $85 court costs! I can't get it inspected because I have no emergency brake, catalytic converter, and most of my emissions stuff is completely gone thanks to the jackass that stuck the 4 barrel on my Jeep. Anyway, I can just about give up on the Borg now, I discovered that the frame is so badly rusted around the rear leaf spring mounts that I'm afraid to even drive it. I'm going to try to find another one without an engine maybe. My 360 runs extremely good. Of course, if I can find a Cherokee or Wagoneer for around $700 maybe I'll just pick it up instead. Anybody need some black interior parts? AMC TH-400? Q-Trac that actually works?

Thanks!!! The pick. does not do all the custom body work justice (rock rash) but if you are reffering to the engineering and assembly I will take all the credit. H*ll I guess I have to take the credit for the body work to. I hate to hear that Shedby4. I caught my frame before it got that bad and repaired it. I still need a T-case I think I have a deal worked out but I will know more this week.

waggin'ear,
LMAO....Thanks for the offer, but my jeep would explode or completely fall apart way before Raliegh.... If I knew my left leaf rear leaf spring wouldn't fall off I might give it a try though. I'm getting desparate. Anybody out there that may want to try fixing this thing? If the frame is repairable, I'll throw an SOA on it too. I love my Jeep...but thanks to the P.O.S.P.O. I may be in WAAAAAAAAAAAAY over my head. I'm sure it can be welded...may require some new metal in there...but metal is good, yes?
Rockwagon,
I did e-mail you...but I've got the wrong t-case for you. Anybody close to Hickory that can do some major welding? Anybody?

Sorry you cant make it Waggin'ear. Maybe another weekend.

Does everybody want to meet at the gravel parking lot at the entrance to the park?
What time? 8am, 10am, noon? Any suggestions?

Depending on how many we got, we can find a good camp site along the trail, maybe Falls Dam or Dickey Bell? There will probably be 3 of 4 jeeps with me (I am the only FSJ, but I'm working on a few more!).

We can ride the afternoon, grill some steaks for supper & ride the night away!! :D

Working hard to get mine ready for some open air riding!!

Rockwagon,
I may have your "hook up" on a 229. I think the Cherokee I'm going to look at has the Dodge tranny and the NP229 combo. I'm not 100% positive. Maybe if you'll help me throw my drivetrain in there (if I get it) I'll give ya the stuff from the Cherokee... I'm pretty happy with my 1339 and TH-400. I'll let you know for sure what's in there. It's supposed to have good axles too...if anybody is interested...

Dry & Dusty!!

Only other member was Rockwagon. Only saw him on the trails, his club was working on the trails this weekend. He has one awesome ride! He worked until 10pm Fri. night to get ready for the weekend. It was really quiet this weekend. We rode from 9pm until 2am Sat. & only saw 2 4wheelers and 3 jeeps the whole time. Great night for howling at a full moon!! Rode almost all night in 2wheel-low.

The top & cage came from a Scout donor. Top is in pretty bad shape & does not reach the windshield, but will serve as a pattern for a new top a friend is going to make. The pic gives a pretty good idea what it will look like though. I want to make the top in black, but I can get some military desert tan canvas for free, so I might go that way. Everyone is trying to get me to go desert camo to match the canvas, but I dont know. I will have to mill it over while I do some more body work. I need to fix the right rear door I bounced off a tree Sat. night(2wd on rocks doesn't work) :(
Maybe we can try for a weekend in mid-July??

Anyone game? :D
