I just bought a carburator kit for my 90 GW. The kit instructions say it covers up to 1985. I have a 2150 carb and that is what the kit covers. (the carb # is ORHA2) my kit only covers (1,2,4,and 5RHA2) should I use it? What are the differences? Should I use the 1985 spec's and hope for the best? I am really interested in what my float levels or any other internal settings should be.

Thanks for any help

I used a kit from Mechanic's Auto Parts made by Borg Warner item# 10748. Who makes your kit and what's the part number, maybe that will trigger somebody's memory.

Are you sure about your carb number?
The 2V MC carbs that start with a "0" so far as I know are all the earlier 2100 models. The 2150's(which yours should be) all start either with a "2" on the early(82 etc) model 2150's and a "5" on the later(90) 2150's.
According to the 90 TSM the stock carb model is 5RHA2 so that kit should be the correct one for a stock 90 GW carb. Sounds like someones swapped carbs on your rig. I dunno if the kit will work(prolly will?) but I'd go back and get the correct kit that matches your model(2100) and the carbs serial number to be sure.

Bought rebuild kit from advanced auto parts. Kit is from walker part #(5301D). Rechecked # on carburator, it is definately 0RHA2, it says so in two places. I thought everything was pretty much factory, my jeep still has all emissions hooked up. I have a jeep book, it looks like the lay out of the 2150 carb. Thanks for all input.

I did some more homework and did find some 2150's with your number ORHA2 but that's a part number from a 1980 vintage 2150. The 1990 model year part number is 5RHA2 so I'd say your carb's been replaced some time in the past for whatever reason but it's a moot point. For all practical purposes they're the same carb with the same jet sizes, wet/dry float settings etc. That kit you have should work fine.

Thank's everyone for your feedback. I haven't rebuilt a carb in 20 years. So this should be fun, ya right. I hope if my rebuild doesn't go well one of the parts stores will take my old core in exchange for a 1990 model. Thanks again everyone.

You'll do fine, these aren't hard to rebuild just remember "cleanliness counts" smile.gif
Dig in the TECH LIBRARY section for Michael Baxters article on going through the 2150. It's a great write up.

Sounds like the boys at Jeep had those 2150s sitting on the shelf for a while huh?? :D

The main difference between the early and late 2150's is the vacuum-feed to the power-valve and the bowl vent. The earlier units used an internal vacuum source for the power-valve, and a lever gizmo for the vent. The later units used an external vacuum source (there is a vacuum port on the power-valve housing on the front of the carb), and an electric bowl-vent valve external to the carb itself.

Which one is yours most like?
