For all those in the ATL area. I will be doing a last minute Redneck Ram hydraulic steering install. Hopefully all will go well. Anybody else who needs some last minute tuning is welcome to come.

Don't know if anyone is interested, but I'll put it out there. It will be in Acworth.

how far/in what direction is acworth from columbus?

GaWag

Acworth would be north of Atl. I believe that would be a few hours drive from Columbus.

I'm going to try to make it. I have a new oil pan / pickup to install and a replacement radiator. The one I have now is all JB welded together ;~) And by then I should have rebuilt brakes on all four corners, and I will have finally fixed my parking break!!!!!!!

P.S. For those who have not heard, I have finally overcome the electric window track issues that I was having over at Blakes. . . .

I'm here, honey! I'll try to make it over, but can't make any promises. It all depends on how much I get done, and how much Beigewag wants to cooperate with me......and no, you didn't hurt my feelings, bud. I'm a thick-skinned feller! Btw, can't wait to see Rstbkt!

Steve:

Do you have a parts cleaner? Since Bill is planning to change his oil pan gasket, I may do the same on Rstbkt. Need to know if I should bring separate cleaning fluid and a ton 'o rags!!!

Looking forward to seeing everybody...even SARS-boy! (Arf-Arf) I've had the crud over the last two weeks also, but Doc said today it's only bronchitis and NOT contagious.

Brad, do you want me to bring your cooker? Did you forget it was here? I'd snag it off you, but I am a mere novice when it comes to smoked BBQ, and I wouldn't DARE deprive you of your higher calling! Hee-Hee

See yall there.

Did everyone make it home alright?

CR I think I figured the ram out. You need to run the draglink with the system, and when the pump gets over powered the ram takes over and bypasses the pump. I think. I will test this tomorrow morning.

Hey Guys:

FUN day today...as usual, I'm POOPED!

We got RstBukt taken care of (valve cover gasket); Kimbrough finished his locking Warns, and Brad tightened up his roof rack and put in his interior panels. Ryan got me a new valve cover ordered (call me Sunday for charge info--thanks)...and we finally got Bill's new oil pan in (whew!)...just before dark!

Steve, sorry we couldn't figure out your Redneck Ram steering...Blake's first impression was the same as yours...bleeding! But I agree with Mike that ain't the prob, so I think you ought'a put a post out there on the tech page tonight, (my buddy's not home), and then call those folks first thing Monday. My bet is they've seen this before, and will have a clue...hopefully in time for Tellico!

Great time...see you all again soon!

Steve:

That makes sense to me...I could never get comfortable today with the idea of no drag link or pitman arm...worth a try! Let us all know...see ya later.

That would explain the difference of Hydraulic ASSIST steering and just plain Hydraulic Steering. Let us know how it goes!

Hey guys. Could you please check you're tool boxes for any stow away tools. We are missing some assorted wrenches and 2 extensions that have swivels on the end and a pair of generic looking black handled pliers. It was late and the rain was coming and it was dark. I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I would just like everyone to double check please.

Thanks
Steve

Steve:

I double-checked my box tonight...no extra wrenches or extension, no extra swivel (mine has the tape around it), and no strange pliers. I'll check in the back of the Scrambler tomorrow when its daylight. Matter of fact...I'm missing my 7/16" and 1/2" craftsman 3/8" drive sockets ....Bill, I think they ended up under your truck when we were fighting with that pan.

Have a look and let us know...I think maybe the little guy was helping us put tools away! Hee'hee!

Hey guys:

I searched the scrambler for any hideaway tools, and alas, all I found was rust! Btw, Steve, did you get the steering all worked out? Trail-ready?

Have fun this weekend, and we'll figure out what to do about those missing tools when you guys get back.

Steve:

Opened the hood of the Scrambler to install the new valve cover I ordered from Ryan, and guess what I found? my 7/16 and 1/2 sockets! They've been riding around all over the place on the flat deck in front of the radiator ever since the wrenchin' at y our place and never fell off!

billyrb

Charles, let me know how that cover works, and what you think of it. Also, let me know if there are any installation issues with it. Thanks.

ChuckWag
06-03-2003, 01:51 AM
Ryan:

Tried to install the new cover, and lo and behold, can't do it without two custom bolt holes drilled into the head! Good news is that the new holes replace a poor attachment design for the old cover, bad news is that I'm REALLY uncomfortable drilling holes in the head by hand. Wouldn't that be best accomplished at the machine shop when I have the engine re-built? Lemme know what you think, and thanks again.
