DFW get together, in Fort Worth this time?

I was thinking that it would be cool to get together with the DFW crowd again. Only this time, I thought it would be cool to get together on the other side of the Metroplex. Anyone interested in a gathering somewhere on this side of town? If so, where?

Ft. Worth doesn't have any "outdoor" restuarants, does it? Not that that's necessary, in fact, we could go to a park and have a cookout/picnic.

Give any kids a place to play, plus give the grown ups some time to chat, etc.

Just a suggestion, but aren't there a couple of lakes that have that type of area set up?

There's a couple of Sonic's on this side of town... :rolleyes:

But there are several parks and lakes. Benbrook lake, Lake Worth, even Joe Pool lake in Arlington/Grand Prairie area that I can think of off hand.

derf.....The new Sonic at I-20 and Trail Lake has a big parking lot nextdoor to the south and is only 1/2 block south of I-20. Theres alot of new food places with big lots along I-20 at Forest Hill Dr...LMRA?? that would be COOL........ds..

I think the lake thing would be a great idea. Make it an afternoon deal. I could dig up a boat possibly.... :D

But if not, Joe pool has some great places to spend the day. Also there are some spots for wheelin'.

Another thing is River Legacy Park in North Arlington. It is very nice to have a get together and it is hugh. We could do bbq there. It is about 8 miles West of Hwy 360 off Green Oaks and About 5 miles East of my place....just a thought.

The closest thing to an outdoor restaurant that I know of in Ft W is Joe T Garcia's and Joe's Crab Shack, Outback Steakhouse, and Uncle Julio's all have those outdoor dining areas.

I am not familiar with the Ft. Worth area. Lake Lewisville (yes I know, I'm dragging this eastward) does have some very nice picnic areas.

Plenty of room for the youngin's to play, grills, covered picnic tables, etc.

Just a thought, and yes I would love to make one of these get togethers in the not to distant future.

What day would be good, I'm going to (hopefully) be out of town Memorial Day Weekend, taking delivery of TWO FSJ's (83 Cherokee Pioneer, and 83 Wagoneer Ltd.), plus a lot of "extras".

Not sure what I'll get in the way of spare parts, but there is apparently quite a bit. All for $2500, both running, and legal.

That's the only weekend I don't have open, aside from a trip to Janie's this Saturday. Tell Bill that I'm sorry that I missed him, and if he needs directions to Mid Cities Salvage, page me at 214-344-7095.

Don S has cordially invited us to his house on the 15th of June. There are plans for Barbecue and more. All you need is you lawn chair and drinks oh and your FSJ or he will charge ya!!!LOL

If any of you guys want we could make this a day deal...wheelin @ marshall creek in Grapevine then chow @ Dons!!! Please let me know if you are interested in this....I think it would be a great deal, I will need a head count including spouses and kiddos!!!!

......One of my long time friends is a champion BBQ cat so i tried to talk him into cooking at a park or something....well to make a long story quick he said he'd do it at my house. Doris said "fine" for June 15th. This BBQ would be so fresh it won't be ready till the posted time to eat it. I will furnish all 'cept the drinks,lawn chairs and tables and/or picnic blankets.
This BBQ will be free to each person/family that comes in their FSJ..OR is a MEMBER of A TEXAS OKLAHOMA JEEP CLUB..Maybe a very small charge for unFSJs?? I will need MICHAEL to be a co-host and promoter as I would have to get up at 2AM to help the guy cook...

Okay...trail news.

ColeTrickle and I went to Marshall Creek on the North end of Grapvine lake. It is about 20 miles from my house....or less. This is what we found.

Lots of mud.
Lots of sand.

One good challenging mound....which we could only make about 3/4 the way over one way and all the way at a diffrent angle.

So I believe this would be a great place to head to before Don's...although it is on a diffrent side of town. It is easy for a stock rig...so everyone could enjoy this. Please let me know who is interested for this prior to Don' on the 15th.

Hey DFW guys/gals...I will not be making the BBQ tonight..It is a work thing! I sent Don a PM and I apologize for canceling, but there is no way I am gonna get out of here until after 8:00 and I am in Plano. I was going to take off early, but can't due to the fact that I have to be off monday afternoon...They only allow us so much time off for good behavior here in the prison! I have an interview on Moday w/Miller welders not beer! SO that screwed up my chances of getting out of here early today! Maybe here in a week or two I will actually have some weekends off and can go wheelin'....Depends on the Miller thing!

where is everybody from. i live on the gulf coast about 40 miles from galveston. anybody else live close to the houston galveston area. still trying to figure out what all i have in my jeep. havent really had time tho just got divorced from ex old lady again and trying to catch up on everything around the house. if anybody could help figure out what is in my jeep it would be appreciated. i know i have the 360 but havent had time to mess with it until yesterday did put some 36's on it. new female friend is ready to go play in the mud and trails but cant do that until get it running right
