Okey, I'm registered and paid and just got my email telling me that:
The order you pay is the order you play, i.e. first ones paid get first picks of trails AND
(this is the biggie and point of this post) you can change your trail selection up to July 5 based on first paid privileges soooo
THAT MEANS WE CAN COORDINATE TRAILS IF WE WANT TO.

Now all of you that have followed my posts know that I'm a "low and slow" fan as opposed to the RB and PorkChop "SKYPILOT" crowd smile.gif soooo, you can guess I'm just itchin to get in behind them, or maybe just in front of them, on one of these cliffside off camber scenic view trails (heheheh).
(They'll probably be lookin to do the same thing to me when we get to the rocks in Poughkeepsie LOL) soo,
I propose that DonS be elected to select the 'best' of the offerings by appropriate criteria and that we try to get on them on the same days (assuming the ifsja's want to get a chance to wheel with each other smile.gif Having more than one member witness the same faux pas, bonehead mistakes, and outright scary ness, as well as same scenery at same time etc., should provide plenty of chat fodder here for the LAO, i.e. "Life AFter Ouray" hhehe. To start off, Don,
I propose that at least one of the days you pick Poughkeepsie for the marginally lifted and up crowd (straps and winches will get you up if you're not) and perhaps an afternoon for a run down Black Bear assuming it won't be swamped with drivers. That should satisfy any of the "I can see my house from here" types smile.gif hehehe
Other categories I would suggest would be most scenic countryside, and then perhaps best ruins/old mine/ghosttown route. Anyway, those are my thoughts smile.gif

Hmmmm...now I'm thinking that I need to add a section on what trails people pick in my offical list of reservations post. I know...I'm digging a bigger hole but isn't that what it's all about.

This is what I picked and why. Be willing to change to be in the 'in' crowd:

Thursday-Imogene/Ophir Easy, high elevation, and scenic. Figure it would make a good shakedown run to see how the old girl likes 12,000 feet.

Friday-Poughkeepsie Gotta do it, its the toughest offered and I am in an FSJ, right?! If I'm gonna break, it will be on this trail, and it leaves me with a day to make repairs if I have to before driving back.

Saturday-Clear Lake Why? Because it sounds cool and what is better than a high elevation lake in the Rockies?

Well, there's my list. Jump on board, or come up with another one that suites everyone better and I'll comply. I'm gettin' chills just thinking about it. But I still have work to do to get the old girl ready ;) !

Josh that is toooo funny smile.gif have the exact same 3 trails, just switched clear and imogene so to do clear first smile.gif
Your reasoning is sound on Poughkeepsie though smile.gif heheh one day to get ready, before and one day to fix things after LOL smile.gif

We'll be 2000 miles from home, and have to drive back, so I'm taking the easy way out:

Thursday: (1st) clear_lake (2nd) placer_picayne (3rd) mini_loop
Sounds like a great starter trail
Friday : (1st) placer_picayne (2nd) mini_loop (3rd) minnie_maggie
I forget my reasoning here
Saturday: (1st) buffalo_boy (2nd) minnie_maggie (3rd) mini_loop
Buffalo is only available that day, and I love historical stuff.

Anything among these trails that would make them unsuitable for an unlifted GW with a family of five aboard?

The hardest part of these OURAY trails as you know is perhaps trying to "rate" them. To rate any trail one needs to consider all the following items
Difficulty, Frightfulness, Direction of Travel, Experience, Vehicle, Weather, Luck, Traffic, Emotions, & Beauty

My choices .. for y’all would be
#1 Mini Alpine Loop- Engineer Pass, Animas Forks, California gulch(Pass), Hurricane Pass and Cork Screw Gulch (Pass)
# 2 Imogene Pass and Ophir Pass.
# 3 "Macho" Poughkeepies Gulch (min. equipped like my ’76)

Crash & Rescue
Think’ll be held as C & R.. down at that local Bar..
so don’t you call that 911.. ‘caus‘it would surely spoil my fun.
Crash & Rescue, I’ll be in Reserve.. This is the way I may serve..
go and play the lemmings game.. flying from cliffs for fun and fame..

while you're flying through the air.. I'll be in Ouray with no care? ..
Sittin’ at the Bar I’ll shed a tear.. and continue drinking my Bearwizz Beer
falling in air, think of this WIT!.. Screaming and hollering where IS that Twit..
Your a’wonderin’ as you go down.. Why the hell he stayed in town

Hittin’ below with a big splat.. who will know where your at..
C n’R arrives at the scene.. Only to have their face turn green..
Soon ahold of your bleedin’ bones.. plugin’their ears from pharts and moans..
They’ll just smile and kindly ask.. When ya go’na do Black Bear Pass?

Hey! my friends not to worry.. there is no moral to this story..
If you fall and if you die.. here I'll sit hav‘n a cry..
Tellin’ the world of your demise.. tears’ll roll in blood shot eyes..
standin’ upon a grave so dear.. Think’ll Tink’ll more Bear’wizz Beer ..
 .. ds..

Ok, for those who want to try to sync trails, we got two days to sort this out.
