I know we are spread out pretty far in this great state, but we've got to get together for some wheelin'! smile.gif Maybe in Nov, Dec or Jan. I think we should make it a full weekend to make the trip worth it for those who travel further, but that's up to all involved. I'd like to make it a somewhat technical run with a minimum of 31" tires required. Maybe a 3.0 or 3.0+ rating. We should make it a neutral location for Tucson and Phoenix in order to get equal participation. The first thing we need to do is find out who's interested, when they're gonna' be ready and where they think we should meet. Since I live and wheel north of Phoenix, of course I'd like to run Crown King or Turkey Creek. But, since that is kinda' far north for the Tucson group, we should meet somewhere in between the cities. I really don't know those trails. Any ideas? smile.gif Next!

My Rusty lift is supposed to show up on Friday. "IF" all of the parts are there then I will install it the following weekend. (Plans for this weekend). At that point I will be ITCHING to go somewhere. I put up a technical post asking what are the best Tires for AZ?

Take a look and respond!

I also asked where is a good place to buy Ranco Shocks.

Let me know if you know.

BTW. I wouldn't mind going back to box canyon and taking it by storm. Kinda like a before and after trail ride. Since I wouldn't be slowing you down we could probably get past the cabin. Maybe we can get some folks from Tucson to join in?

Always count me in,unless a mechanical snfu arises.(known to have happen)
I'm easy,(sshhhh, not in front of the guys)just mention wheel'n + camp'n in the same sentence is always a good thing. Its been a yr since I've slept w/ rocks in my back.Maybe thats why it been hurting, lack of sleeping in a tent.
I'll look over the topos to see what maybe "neutral turf" for everyone and will post sugguestions later.
Good luck Tom & Chris on your hunt,you lucky %$#^(*&^@! tongue.gif tongue.gif

Camping would be great! Depending on the time of year we could hang out near 'spider cave' at box canyon. It is going to start to get cold in the high country.

I ordered my shocks. They were shipped today. I should get will e lifted on the weekend of the second of November (unless Rusty forgot a part or sent the wrong one). After that I am good to go. Even if I don't get new tires I should be able to handle some moderate trails. I bet I get some tires the following week. I have read the posts from my other thread. I will be watching for good deals....

NASCAR is the following weekend. I usually go hang out on the hill for that. The following weekend I should be free.

How 'bout Saturday, November 16th. Let's make it at 8:30, (but I'll fool myself and say 7:30, so I can be there on time) The Florence area sounds good for a day trip, but it may be too far for the Tucson troops. I have no problem making that another local trip, unless we can get something going that involves the Southern AZ Jeepers. Come in Tucson, do you read me? Does anyone have some input? Over! ;) I bet this is just killing you Bob! All I can say is: Woof-II. Tad, still think you can be ready maybe for a Christmas run? Mtn Goat, Ridgbak: What do you think?

That just might work for me. With some help from the Jeep Gods I should have my lift/shocks/tires in by then. Keep watching for local sales on Tires. I don't get the paper. (I knew I should have learned to read in the 3rd grade) smile.gif

How 'bout the Coke Ovens trail. Though, on the average, Tucson Wheelers would have to drive further, but not much more than I do, if any. It's a 2.5+, but I'm sure we can find some obstacles along the way. (We usually do! ;) ) There is good AZ history on that trail, and we'll have an AZ Historian with us, more than likely. (That'd be the Desertson himself, AzFrank!) How's it sound guys? smile.gif

The Coke Ovens are great, there are some neat Spanish trail markings along the way and the famed North and South Butte along the Gila River.
The only thing to work out is which way do we go in. From Hwy 60 or Florence way (Box Canyon or thru Cocharn Station)?

A Christmas run should be just about right for me since the engine swap is a Thanksgiving date. I have not been to the coke ovens in 20 years so that would be good too.

How is this thing playing out...I am free on that date. Coke ovens sound neat...I have never been there.
