My 86 GW only has liability insurance on it and I want to protect against the a##hole thief by installing something to stop him. What are you guys doing? I want to keep it cheap. Something like a kill switch or basic alarm. Any suggestions?

A hidden battery cut-off switch and a removable Grant steering wheel are two cheap solutions.............phil

Is the battery cut off switch located inside? I'd assume it would be for ease of use. Is the switch on the ignition wire or an actual battery lead somewhere?

Any Tuffy Security products that you can adapt (I've got a radio-mount console from a CJ-5 project, but they have dozens of groovy items that you can stash important stuff in), and, rather than the bulky, scary idea of an easy-to-bypass C/O switch, make the thieves work for the Waggy ... take some key (pardon the pun) interior ground within the ignition system, before it hits the firewall, and complete the circuit with a magnet. If the magnet isn't attached to metal, the circuit is open ... Of course, you would have to add this to the list of things to tell your friend when he borrows it on a beer run, but if your wiring is like most of ours is or has been, your friends may be used to instructions like, "if the headlights go out, punch the dashboard about right here, they may come right back on"

I ran a piece of 20 lb. fishin line taped to the bottom of the door under the car to the street side door where the coward was gettin in and ran it inside the window of the house to a pillow that was positioned at the top of the bed so when the POS opened the door it knocked the pillow down on top of my head to wake me up. Then I went on the prowl after my prey. I picked up our big metal trash can "empty" and snuck around the side of the house and threw the can high in the air close to the car in the street. BLAM! BLAM! He shot out in hurry and the punk ran and ran. You see my girlfriend wouldn't let me do what I really wanted to do to him so he got off easy only to return a month later and bash out my windshield of my Windstar. $500, Next time we do it my way.

Do you have an electric fuel pump? If so make a switch to turn it on and off.
