Running some check I found that my EGR valve is binding, hence it is recommended to replace it.

Problem is, this is a PO replaced item and has no discernable markings or numbers on it. There seem to have been a few different valve used on 360's in 1979.

All I know is that I have no external back pressure sensor equipment. This would mean that I should have an integral back pressure sensor EGR. Seems the PO replace the valve with no sensor built in.

Since I need to pass smog tests, I need to replace it.

Any help in obtaining a part number or numbers would be appreciated.

I think the back pressure sensor is used only on CA vehicles. I've never seen one and my 360 doesn't have one either. I'd think both EGR valves are the same too.

You're not gonna want to hear this but the EGR with a back pressure sensor must have been fairly common. The factory parts manual list nine(9) different part numbers for the one w/sensor used in 1979 alone http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/frown.gif
Those numbers are all dependent on what numbers were stamped on the original EGR valve.
Only one p/n for the one w/o sensor: p/n 321 8739.
