On my way home from 243's I noticed a whistling sound when I would decelerate from about 65 mph to around 45 mph. If i pushed the gas pedel even a little it would go away. It was loudest at the greatest mph and decreased as I slowed down. I checked all the vacuum hoses when I got home and couldn't find anything. It seems to run fine. Has anyone else ever had something like this happen?
The only whistling noise I've dealt with was a leaking/tired vac booster on the brakes. Has the pedal feel/pressure changed at all recently? Sorry just a wild a** guess but my first suspect would be a vac leak too but I know at 65mph I wouldn't hear it anyway. :(

I had a very loud whistle on deceleration and idle on my chero. It would go away as soon as I hit the gas. I suspected a vascuum leak but could never find the problem. When I replaced the carburetor my problem dissappeared. You may want to start there.

as suggested it's probably a vacuum leak

And I always thought that that was wind noise. smile.gif

Mud Thrasher. That is what I thought at first but I only had to barely push teh accelerator down and it went away. IT is raining right now, but I think I will check teh suggestions above and see what I can see. The brakes haven't been great, but theyy have never been that great anyway. I have had the carb hold down nuts loosen over time. It will be interesting to see what is causing it.

I have a whistling sound on a ford at just the right theottle position, from an open element air cleaner. Do you have an open air cleaner??

It's the stock air cleaner and even has the hose to the front still attached. I checked it and it is tight to the carb as well.

could it be some sort of exhaust leak?
