bottomed out: shocks or leafs?

SO I went over a dip today and bottomed out the rear HARD! By bottomed out, i mean it felt like the shocks had reached the end of their stroke.
Ok, so I was going a LITTLE fast, but still....
I suspect the rear springs may be suffering from wag sag, but the shocks should have damped a little...no?
Can any body recommend a good set of shocks for mostly highway, some light 4wd driving? And has anyone done a rancho 2" add-a-leaf recently?
