Timing cover- Oil pump missing a hole?

Im lookimg at the bottom piece, the part that holds the oil filter. Then I removed the threaded tube that holds the filter, and it has a plate that covers a hole,hard plastic piece, and a small spring. On my new piece, there is no hole there. Do I need to drill this out or what? Dennis

I had the same problem, I thought. The hole you are talking about, is the bypass. I called the place that I got it from and ask the same question you did. They researched it and called me back. The response was it's not need now because, all new oil filters have a built-in bypass.

I managed to find the mfg and called them also. Was told the same thing. Thanks, Dennis
