Got a Sony CD player/CD-RW/detachable installed in snarling beast today. ($231.00) Too bad the speakers don't work but that'll be $200 another payday...
Guy behind the counter was outright enthused. "A Jeep J10? Let me see it." He got in it, fired it up, got out, looked around smiling, checked it out like a kid on Christmas.
"You know," he said to me, "these things were the Hummers of their day."
"What do you mean 'were'" I said.

HAHAAHAHAHA Hummers.....um ya I dont think so. I compare my Gwag to a esclade as far as elegence(in my dreams) but a hummer. I would have smacked him with a glove and told him that he insulted you and to have him duel with you in the parking lot. "We are Jeepers...we are unique and shall not be compaired to any POS that rolls off the assembly line, when the holy one(fill in the blank here God, buda, ect) created our Jeeps it was to be hailed as his/her greatest achievement and no one shall be its equal...and yes...I need sleep     :D

His sentiment was in the right place, but I dig what your saying. It's got brown primer, rough spots, ripped up doors, but it's beautiful to me....Brent

Which Hummers do you think he was referring to? If it was the H1, then hell ya, that's a compliment! The H1 is a badass machine that knows no limits and was fully designed and manufactured by Hummer in conjunction with Willy's Overland and a few others. While the H2 is simply a Chevy Suburban on steroids that isn't worth the steel (and mostly plastic) that it's made of.
He probably doesn't know the difference between the H1 and H2 so he probably assumes that all Hummers are badass so I would like to believe that it was an attempt at a compliment.
Either that or he means that the MPG is the same.
Wow, what are the specs on that? $231? I just got a Pansonic sweet CD/MP3 player, with aux in, detachable fold down face, puttin out 50x4 max (can't remember RMX) and 3 preamps (front, rear, and sub), got a deal on it, $195

It's a $139 unit that came to $200+ after wiring and warrany. Sony model CDX-L410X. Detachable. 45X4 max. It's got one RCA preamp, and signal-to-noise is 90 decibles. Not bad, I can't wait to hear it with decent speakers.
And Philsine---thought I knew my Jeep history pretty good, but I didn't know a Hummer came out with a Kaiser influence. Interesting. They're all ugly to me. If I had the dough, and I was going for over-the-top, I'd probably get a Caddy Escalante...

The H1 is a badass machine that knows no limits -xcept around here. They are so d#mn wide, I can't think of a challenging trail in this state that they would fit on.
Even so, when I wheel the FSJ, I get a lot of looks and stares, and "classic", "real jeep", etc. I heard one guy say, "There goes your TJ's Granddad." I thought that ws pretty cool.

It was meant as a compliment.
The H1 and H2 are both good off road trucks. Sure the H1 is better than the H2 but the H2 is really a trail worthy truck. I would dare say that a stock H2 is more trail worthy than my FSJ was when it was stock.
As mentioned, the problem with them is they are too wide. The last two trails I was on (box canyon and broken arrow) are not hummer friendly. Either the trees are too close or the two cliff walls were

H1: I've seen a few of those off road around here. They'll crawl over a lot of stuff I wouldn't even try. Unfortunately they can't squeeze thru much. Good thing those guys can afford chopper service to pull them out of the tight spots. (actually happened)
H2: Haven't seen one off road here yet. Usually they're in parking lots, on the street or at the car wash. I'd try wheelin' one out here.
Caddy Escalade: Not even 4X4! :( I'd have no use for such a waste of plastic!

The Escalade is a cool ride though I have to admit. Man I bet you could get so much tail drivin one of those. I bet you could just say your a basketball player or a rapper to the ladies and they would hop right in. Then you get a system so loud it blasts their clothes off. ahahahha

I'm sure that you mean 'tail' in the most flattering sense of course. But I totally disagree with your statement. Every one of us here knows that any woman worth having would
1. automatically prefer a sincere FSJ driver any day
2. would never be stupid enough to fall for that line anyway
3. would run over you with her FSJ when she caught you lying to her later :D
Okay, 3 is a joke, but I stand by 1 and 2, and I'm a girl. Better to get them with the truth every time.
