Can't find how many amps my stock alt (Delco)is rated. Anyone know? O'reilly has a 56 amp for 59 bucks, and I can't spend much. If that's equal to what came stock, I'm takin' it.
I won't be trying to run welders, winches or reanimate the dead. At least not yet...

I think Chilton said tha it's a 49(?)amp.
If you want to go cheap, JC Whitney has a 105amp rebuild for our rigs that's only $34.

Thank ya' Jake_s!
Well, crud! I'd go for the jcw 105 amp, but I'm moving this weekend, and I gotta have the wag runnin' by then. Definately an option for the future, though.

Autozone carried a 91-amp alt. for later-model GWs with A/C...since you're in Looo-sana I'd grab that 'un.

All Delco alts have the amp & volt rating stamped on the case. Just pull it off and check as you are replacing it anyways.

or you could have a rebuild shop change the brushes to increase the output. i had it done to mine. it increased to 97 amps. for about $25.00

The stock alternator is 55amps....but there was a option for a "high output" alternator. Which my rig came with (says so on the build sheet) but unfortuntely i dont have the stock one anymore.

What ever it is stock, its not enough. When my cooling fans, blower motor and compressor are on, I have less than 12v at the battery.
Think I am going with the rebuild at the local aut electric shop. Quoted me $100.00
for 100 AMP. OUCH!
