33in All Terrains always look smaller to me than 33in Mud Terrains.

Is this just in my head or do Muds have a little more diameter because of the nobbies?

I think you answered you own question ;) .

Although you probally already know that all tires are not created equal...some 33's measure 32.5 and so on.

Hmm.. So muds are bigger in diameter.

Generally speaking they are both built on the same casings. If you borrow some tire man's tread depth gauge you will USUALLY see that AT's run from about 17 to 19 and true muds up to 22 or 23 on those gauge, soooo, generally speaking most muds are in fact slightly larger than the similarlly sized AT's from the same manufacturer.

I seem to recall being told by one of the Goodyear racing guys once, that the AT's are more highway capable and that longer i.e. deeper treads flex more in motion thus creating additional unwanted heat at high speed over hot blacktops, sooo, they cut down the tread depth a bit on the more street oriented tires.
