View Full Version : Leaky Windshield

Today was the first time I have had a chance to drive my J20 in a good rainstorm. Much to my dismay I quickly noticed that I had water coming in on both sides of the cab floor from what appears to be from the windshield. When the rain cleared off I pulled the trim loose on both sides of the windshield and noticed that the gasket had a hole right in the middle of each corner, I am guessing that is where the leaks are. The guy I bought the truck from said he had a new windshield installed a year or so back and apparently they reused the old gasket. Is this a problem on FSJ? Are new gaskets available anywhere but the Jeep (oh my God is this going to be another big ticket item) dealer?
Thanks
Dan

What GruntDoc said should work. Around here, I was shopping the local glass shops, and one of them (I can't remember which now) said that they would be replacing the seal along with the windshield. Average price among all the shops was around $425. That's just the price of new glass on our FSJ's.
The windshield seal is part # WCR 643, about $100 new, any decent glass shop can get one for you.
Course you could move to AZ where it doesn't rain also. ;)
