Two questions on this one. What is the consensus as far is the stall rate/lockup for an AMC 360(.030 over), TH400,QT (with Low), stock gears, mild comp cam, Edelbrock intake and carb?
Also, how can I tell if a have a part time conversion kit on my Chief? I have Warn locking hubs up front, but I just recently noticed that my vac lines are not hooked up to my T-case. Also, when I put my front wheels against the curb, I can't climb it (6") and when I back off the gas it stalls (Tach goes to 1500 RPM with pedal to the floor when against the curb). If I don't have a P-T conversion could I have screwed up my T-case by running the front hubs unlocked and the vac disconnected to the transfer-case? Lots of questions I know, but I put a lot of time and money into my "Girlfriend" and I'd like to keep her!

you could always crawl under and try to turn the front driveshaft(with hubs unlocked) and if it spins still, you might have a p/t kit. If it spins, you may also have worn out your differential in the t-case. The only for-sure way I can think of is to open the case and see what's in there. Your stalling thing *sounds* like a carb problem. I think you are probably flooding your carb when your trying to climb the curb. I could be totally wrong though so more input is always welcome ;)

Carb is relatively new Edelbrock and intake. Also a rebuilt dist., new cap, rotor, Ign. module, fuel tank was boiled out and coated before carb replacement, new pickup, new fuel pump (I'm considering going to an elec.), new fuel filters.

this is a pretty good convertor for a 400 and a 4wd application - LINK (http://www.bulkpart.com/cgi-bin/miva?Merchant2/merchant.mv+Screen=PROD&Product_Code=PP3580&Category_Code=400ptc)

Thanks Rogue. What is the stall rate/lock up for this?

you'd have to call to be sure, i was turned on to this convertor by my former boss when i worked at a transmission shop - according to him it would stall a couple hundred more than stock - no lock/up on a 400
