Would anyone know which axles came factory installed in the 87 Grand Wagoneer with a 360 and auto tranny?

Dana 44 on both ends, probably 3.31:1 gears
Baker is correct as to D44's front and rear but the stock ratio was 2.73 The 3.31's were optional with the towing pacjage.

I was told that by '87, 3.31 was stock--I got a transfer case from an '87 with 3.31s and no towing package.

Thanks guys! I have the chance to pick this thing up for pennies (front end is all stoved up!) and plan on using it as a donor vehicle!!!

I have a buddy who needs just a rear axle tube (bad bearings, excessive wear in the bearing seat). Let me know if you can lop one off.

I was thinking of taking the body of my 89 XJ and welding and cutting and doing whatever it takes to mount it on the frame of the 87 GW I found! I don't want to sound like the Fullsize anti-christ, but the body on that GW is totally rotted and the front is caved in. Anybody ever try this or have any input?

Sounds like a fun project. I've thought about one of the many Hummer kits adapted to a FSJ.
If only I were rich, I could build some cool toys. http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

i think it would kick a**.the whee base and trac width are close enough t obe the same, the only real trouble youll have is the very small engine compt. in the xj youll have to cut out alot ofmetal from the inner fenders and core support ot make room for a suitable v8 radiator and the engine.
when i forst got mine,i was going to use its axles under my amc eagle.after pondering it for awhile, i decided it would maybe better to keep a full frame(eagle is unibody) and swap eagle onto its frame. further pondering led to leaving wagoneer body in place and simply getting it running. the eagle has sat with no transmission since.

I was thinking of using the 4 inch Superlift kit and then doing a spring over conversion. Do you guys think that will be enough to clear 35" Boggers?
