7 cylinder!!!!

Jeep has been running like dog do so I got out the timing light to try to time it. Hooked up the light to the #1 plug and got only intermittent flashes. When I hooked it up to all of the others, I got a steady flash. What could cause this? :( Anyone have any ideas? I know it will run better when I get all 8 cylinders firing. :mad:

My first suspects would be the dist. cap, and then the plug wire. When's the last time you change the cap and rotor???

blackjeep2002.. Keith, I would first clean and check the cap and rotor for cracks and carbon trails. If your gas mileage is average and the timing light flashes better with a little more RPM it may only be slightly low voltage to the coil but see if a smaller plug gap helps.. Maybe some of the others will have some ideas.. CUL ..ds..
