Guys,
I was up under the truck and was hearing a knock that at first sounds really bad. I was thinking rod knock/piston slap.
I changed the rod bearings and that didn't take care of the noise. It wasn't worse, it wasn't better.
Now, after changing out the rod bearings, I have lain up under the truck and the sounds appear to be coming from the rear of the engine/front of the bellhousing. I have not located the exact spot yet.
Could the flywheel or torque converter be making this noise?
When you start the truck, it is loud. At idle or low speed, the sound is very noticable. The truck drives very well, the engine has very good performance and the gas milage is good (13mpg). The transmission shifts fine at all speeds.
I'm just concerned that the noise could be something in the transmission.
Any ideas?
Thanks...
