Patch and reinforce frame question

I'm looking for some advice on patching and reinforcing the frame on my '82 CJ-8. Since Scrambler parts are hard to find, I looked at my '82 Cherokee's frame to see if I could mod an FSJ frame to fit in its place and it doesn't look possible. I also have a '76 CJ-5 parts rig that has a good frame. Could it be stretched and boxed to match the Scrambler's wheelbase without mortgaging my house in the process? Any help would be great.

You could follow how the international scouts were done in the late 70's:
the scout II was a 100" wheelbase, and the traveler was 108" (?)
they stretched the shorter (fully boxed)frame to teh longer wheelbase by sleeving it and rewelding the sleeve. really strong, just get someone who knows how to weld real well to do it.
