I can't believe that no one can verify a technical spec. that was given to me recently..What is the number of turns that a J10 or J20 makes from stop to stop??..I believe that my truck has the wrong steering box installed since it does not go to the spindle stops..the box does not have enough travel and I was told that 4 full turns is the normal travel for that unit..mine only makes 3 and it is not hitting anything, including the spindle stops. Help!!

Found my Krause book. Here's what it says for '74 J-trucks:
4 turns lock-to-lock
turning circle-
shortbeds: 41.9 ft.
longbeds: 45.4 ft.
it also notes that stock was a recirculating ball with 24:1 ratio.
AND, that there was a variable ratio power steering, with 20/16:1 ratios.
Not sure how much different they'd be, but only gives 4 turns as the lock-lock rating.
Hope this helps some....
