Hood interchange question

Do the hoods all interchange ? I recently purchased a late 70,s cherokee and wondered if the hood would bolt on to my 87 gw. The chereokee hood does not have a emblem or hole for one. I wanted to eliminate the hole before paint.

I think the tin is all the same but the latch mechanisms are different.

Many of the older ones will have the extra metal piece below the middle/front/center of the hood, so there will be holes left from that piece on the '70's rig, unless it has the one piece grille from '79 and up.
