Venting and questions....

So well i replaced the sparkplugs, wires, cap, and rotor on my cherokee... went to fire it up, and nothing turns over and pops a few times, it was running rough since i got it so i thought changing everything would be a good idea.. now the thing is immobile in my driveway... plus my distributer clips are Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley backwards from the picture of the where the clips are in chilton.

My dad and a friend of mine think it could possibly be the timing... any suggestions?

That's what it sounds like. Find top dead center on cylinder #1(put your finger in the spark plug hole and have some one bump the engine with the key until you find the compression stroke. Align the timing mark at 0 then start from scrach with your distributor. If it is not lined up like in the book. Pull it out and restab it then correct the firing order of the plug wires.
