I have two rigs that keep on having squeeling problems with the alternator fan belts after starting. I have new alternators and new belts and I have to keep tightening them up to stop the noise. Is it because I need to buy better belts ? If so does anyone know who makes belts that hold up better ?

Could be you need better belts but there is this stuff they sell that you rub on your belts to reduce the occurence of squealing. I've never needed it but I've heard of it and I don't recall the name of it. I put my new alt on 10 months ago and I don;t have a problem with the belt squealing

Good luck.

Ive always had good luck spraying WD-40 on them. Sometimes the belts are so dry that they sqeak. It helps them seat in the pully a little better too, which may help eliminate the sqeak.

a bar of soap works real good too
