After trying some things I edited thsi whole message so here it goes:
1. POwer locks jumping up and down on their own, short somewhere still looking....
2. POwer Locks dont do that anymore are totally dead along with power seats.....now battery wont hold charge, Rear Defroster light stays on all the time (doesn;t work)
3. Jumped Jeep and everything runs normal, locl, seats no more defroster light HOWEVER Jeep won't shut off, keys come out, Jeep still runs.
When I remove the keys the Clock and Comp/Temp stay on and flash, the ALT gage drops to 0 like I turned off the Jeep but then jumps up to 8-10. I must stall her out to stop the engine......
am looking in the wire bundles leading to the doors but so far nothing looks wrong....(it is also 20degrees out and I've missed several days of work due to flu)
Can anyone help with search by narrowing down where all these connect???
thanks in advance

From looking at my 1983 TSM, there are several connectors that you can use to isolate power to the lock/window circuit. You can also pull the fuse (circuit breaker?) to see if that isolates the problem. If that fails, try removing fuses one at a time to see if you can isolate the problem to a specific area of the wiring harness.
If you are still having trouble locating the problem, disconnect the ignition switch and see if that removes power from the harness.
If you don't already own a multimeter, grab a running vehicle and buy one. It'll make tracing the circuit easier.
If you're interested in a more detailed list of troubleshooting ideas, let me know how the above ideas worked and I'll see if I can help narrow it down.

Wow! First you need to get a priest and then some chicken bones and throw them on the hood. Then you need to run around the Jeep three times and.......
I agree, you need to start to isolate the problem by pulling fuses. It sounds like a short of course. You must have a broken wire some where.

BB, i hope ya are feeling better. is the ignition hosed up? i can remove the key at will from my wag.the tumblers are worn out, thats normal. but is the switch part ok? is it loose or binding? nother place to check out is around the alternator and the starter relay. you may get lucky and come across some fried wires. in that same area between the altern. and the fenderwall wiring harness there are a coupla fusable links with a 1/2 dozen or so red wires connected to them. check them out. a short in there may give a run on condition. im just shot gunning based on my 1st encounter with a blown fusable link. could
even be an internally shorted starter relay.a volt/ohm meter is a real help here. its the 1st thing i reach for. ill betcha the outlay for parts will be minimal, but it may be a Pita to find. keep us informed of your progress, some body will sooner or later point you in in the right direction. Btw patience is the key and even a real mech cant do much bettern you can. electrical gremlins are more patience and luck than skill.until you find it keeping the ground term discoed when the rig sits for any
time may be advisable so the drain wont strand ya. good luck Bryan.

while going to get the meter, make sure you have a good test light and pick up a (no joke)short finder. they work pretty well and can help save a lot of time. j.c. whitney also carries them.

HAHAHAHAH! Hey Bryant......GOOD one.....but that only works on the QT's http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
Sounds like yu're gettin' close to the problem.... I HATE WIRE GREMLINS!!! http://www.ifsja.org/ubb/mad.gif
Good luck... I can't really sya much to help but will say that you have ALOT more patience than me....keep pluggin'...you'll find it...
One thing.... I noticed in mine that some wire tend to get brittle and the isloation cracks off. When inpsecting/searching thru bundles, you might want to check for this if you haven't already.... especially whee the bundle bend...

Was it the priest or the chicken bones?
That sounds like a nice tedious job. Good luck.
